Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the US. She's been media critic since. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips featuring commentary and analysis of the representations of women that are prevalent in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critic. She is the founder and executive director of Feminist Frequency A scholarly non-profit website that explores representations of women in pop stories of culture. As well as working to highlight the problems surrounding the harassment and targeted assaults on women and others of minority groups in the online world, she is dedicated to breaking down stereotypes that are prevalent in pop culture. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in political and social thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she's well-known and has given talks at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Inquiring about gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series on the gender roles in games but was the target of an online campaign to harass her. The attack did not stop her, rather it strengthened her determination as feminist media critic. She has won numerous awards for her contribution to the cause of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media journalist who has received numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency which is an educational organization that focuses on the ways women are depicted within media narratives.
