Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck; September 26th 1926 - 18 October in 2000) was an American actress and singer her career spans more than 40 years. London was a torch-singer, known for her soft, smooth vocals. She recorded more than 30 albums of jazz and pop classics from 1955 to 1969. The first time she was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was the recording of "Cry Me a River" the track she introduced in her debut album. London was nominated in 1974 for the Golden Globe Award as a actor for her performance in Emergency! of Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career lasted for 35 years and began in 1944 with roles in films. These included roles as the lead female in many westerns. Also, she starred alongside Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951), John Cassavetes and Robert Taylor in Saddle the Wind (1958), Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958), and Robert Mitchum with The Wonderful Country (1959). In the middle of the 1950s, she signed a recording contract with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional music career. She released her final studio album in the year 1969, but was able to continue to make a name for herself as the female lead role of nurse Dixie McCall in the television series Emergency! (1972-1979) during which she acted with her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
